SUMMARY:QVIDTVM x The Ion: Inaugural Hack Day Competition
DESCRIPTION:Analyze. Innovate. Disrupt.\nQVIDTVM and The Ion are teaming up to host Greater Houston’s most exciting tech and data competition of the year! We’re calling on data scientists\, analysts\, developers\, and innovators of ALL backgrounds to join us for a groundbreaking Hack Day focused on real estate analytics. \nThe Challenge: What is the total value of real estate platformed by Airbnb globally? \nParticipants will use provided datasets—or generate their own—to develop a framework for estimating the total underlying value of real estate platformed by Airbnb globally. Additional consideration will be given to analyses that explore trends over time\, including growth rates\, rates of change\, geographical segmentation\, etc. This is your chance to showcase innovative thinking and cutting-edge techniques\, uncovering insights that could reshape how we think about platform-driven economies. \nFeatured Events: Fireside Chat on AI with Nick King\, Founder and CEO of Data Kinetic \nMr. King is the Founder and CEO of Data Kinetic\, a platform agnostic industry-focused applied AI research\, development\, and advisory company. Nick has been working on enterprise technology platforms for the last 20 years. At Data Kinetic\, he has focused on driving the applied use of AI/ML with enterprise companies. \nBackground Requirements: None beyond basic Excel. While coding can be helpful\, we encourage student participants of all backgrounds and majors. This is an open-ended problem and there is no “right” answer. We want to see how the Ion community and next generation of problem solvers **thinks** about big problems with big data. \nTeam Size: Can be individual or teams of up to four. Must be present both days to qualify for prizes\, but no obligation to stay for entire day. Lunch\, refreshments\, and coffee/tea will be provided! \nPrizes & Opportunities:\n1st Place – $1\,000 and a private hour-long lunch with QVIDTVM’s management team.\n2nd Place – $500.\n3rd Place – $250. \nShowcase Your Vision!\nAll participating teams and individuals are also invited to submit a write-up or presentation deck on any project or startup they are currently working on and seeking funding for. Selected submissions may receive further feedback\, support\, and potential funding opportunities. \nWhy Participate? \n\nCollaborate with Top Talent – Connect with Houston’s brightest minds in data science\, engineering\, and real estate analytics.\nShowcase Your Skills – Gain exposure by presenting your findings to industry leaders and investors.\nWin Big – Compete for prizes\, recognition\, and opportunities to pitch your work to influential decision-makers.\n\nAbout QVIDTVM: QVIDTVM Inc. is a long-only\, long-term-focused asset manager dedicated to deep research and disciplined investing. With a focus on value creation and sustainable growth\, QVIDTVM leverages data-driven insights and rigorous analysis to identify high-quality opportunities across a variety of sectors.
